The “God and Prayer” session is a 60–90 minute program designed for teens and adults (ages 13 and up) to explore their personal and theological relationships with prayer. Through journaling, discussion, text study, and creative expression, participants reflect on whether, why, and how they pray, and consider how concepts such as God’s presence, responsiveness, and intentionality shape their practice. The session introduces Jewish perspectives on prayer, including the traditional balance between keva (fixed liturgy) and kavannah (spiritual intention), the use of Hebrew versus vernacular language, and the “Thanks/ Wow/ Please” framework for different prayer types. The program invites a nonjudgmental exploration of belief, supports a wide range of engagement levels, and fosters deeper reflection on the role of prayer in individual spiritual life.
